Before Retouching

Photographic Images—One of our most treasured possessions

Photographs are such simple things, yet when they are lost or damaged, we realize what they are worth to us. From the very old records of the past to yesterday's birthday party, photographs tell our personal stories. We are connected to people and things that would otherwise be lost with the fading of our memories and the death of loved ones.

Quality Photo restores, retouches, enhances and saves your memories for you. When you entrust your photos to us, we give them new life and preserve that legacy for the future.

In case you are confused about what these terms mean, lets define them here:

Retouching is changing the state of the photographic image to a more pleasing and expressive one. For example, removing "red eye" from a picture of someone so you can see their expression and not be distracted by the glaring red pupils caused by electronic flash. Removing objects in the background that distract from the subject in the foreground is another example.

Restoration is repairing a damaged photo to its original condition. For example, taking an old photograph that is scratched and moldy or water damaged and removing those blemishes. Another example is a photo yellowed or darkened with age that can be returned to its original colors. Hover your mouse over the image in the top left corner to see a before and after set as an example.

Archiving is saving the image on digital disks and storing them in multiple locations to prevent loss. Another benefit to this is the progress of printing technology and papers. Today's images can be reproduced later as even better media becomes available.

Digital Enhancement is using digital techniques to bring out details or hiding defects. For example, adjusting the lightness of the image if too bright or too dark. Another example, would be adjusting the contrast and sharpness to bring out detail lost by a soft image.

Browse our pages to see what we can do for you, then contact us for estimates on your projects. Each page has example images. Some are links to larger images and some are links to before-and-after sets. Hover your mouse over any image that turns into a button and click the ones that direct you to larger images.

Remember that large images take longer to load. Enjoy your visit. Be sure to drop us a note to let us know how you liked the site.
